Two quotes for the same move can look very different. Here is what drives the price, so you can compare them fairly.

1. Volume and weight of goods

The number of items and their size decide the vehicle and the manpower you need. A 1 BHK move uses far less than a 3 BHK with heavy furniture.

2. Distance

Longer routes need more fuel, tolls, driver time and transit days.

3. Floor level and lift access

Walk-ups without a lift need more labour and time. Tell the mover about this early.

4. Packing material and service level

Quality boxes, bubble wrap and wardrobe boxes cost more but protect your goods. Ask what material is included.

5. Season and date

Month-end, weekends and festive periods are busy and can cost more.

6. Extras

Dismantling, assembly, insurance, storage and car transport are usually quoted separately.
